The Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of South Africa (CEC) said it is ready to announce today the results of the parliamentary elections held earlier this week in the country after 100 percent of the votes have been counted, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

The agency cited an official statement by South African CEC spokesperson Mosoto Mupya.

The results of the census so far have shown that South Africa's ruling African National Congress (ANC) party has lost its absolute majority for the first time in three decades.

With 97.51 percent of the vote counted yesterday morning, the ANC had 40.11 percent of the vote. The preliminary partial result shows a huge loss of power for South African President Cyril Ramaphosa's ruling party.
