Representatives of Egypt, the United States and Israel will meet today in Cairo to discuss the opening of the Rafah border checkpoint, reported Al-Qahera News TV, quoted by BTA, citing a high-ranking representative of the Egyptian authorities.
Egypt's condition is that Israel completely withdraw from the checkpoint, which was closed after the Israeli army established control over the Palestinian part of it. Cairo holds Tel Aviv responsible for the consequences of closing “Rafah” and the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Gaza, the source said.
According to him, Egypt is making efforts to resume truce negotiations against the background of the recent American proposal.
On May 7, Israel launched a ground operation in the border town of Rafah, establishing control over the border crossing of the same name on its Palestinian side for the first time since 2005, when Israeli settlers and military units withdrew from the enclave.
Jordan announced that on June 11, jointly with Egypt and the United Nations, it is organizing an emergency international conference on the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
