Former South African President Jacob Zuma said his party will continue to challenge the results of the recent parliamentary elections , which according to him were "falsified", reported France Press, quoted by BTA.

"The 2024 elections were rigged," said the spokesman of his party "Umkonto ve sizwe" ("Spear of the Nation") Nhlamulo Ndhlela reading a speech on behalf of Zuma.

"We have asked our legal team to take all possible steps, both in South Africa and internationally, to ensure that justice is done," he added.

"Umkonto ve sizve" came third in the election with 14.6 percent of the vote and 58 seats in parliament

The speaker added that "when the time comes, we will call on our people to peacefully demonstrate their dissatisfaction with these injustices, in the streets, in the courts and even in parliament, until our grievances are addressed.

On Friday, the party boycotted the first session of the country's parliament, which saw the re-election of incumbent President Cyril Ramaphosa, a long-time political foe of Zuma's.

Zuma's party has announced it has filed a legal appeal against the election results.
