Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke by phone with the leaders of several Muslim countries, whom he congratulated on the holiday of Kurban Bayram, expressing hope for peace in the Islamic world and emphasizing the importance of the unity of all Muslims, Anadolu Agency reported, quoted by BTA.

The Islamic world is celebrating Eid al-Adha with sadness because of Israel's oppression in Gaza, Erdogan told Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif yesterday, on the first day of the holiday.

In another telephone conversation - with the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, Erdogan emphasized the importance of the "unity of the Islamic world" in these difficult times.

Conveying Eid al-Fitr greetings to Salman and the Saudi people, the Turkish president also congratulated the crown prince on Riyadh's decision to host 1,000 members of the families of the "martyrs" and wounded from Gaza for Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca).

In front of Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid, President Erdoğan wished that Eid al-Adha, one of the most special days for the Islamic world, would be celebrated in a truly festive manner.
