Russian prosecutor in the case against Evan Gershkovich stated today that there is evidence that the journalist from the "Wall Street Journal" collected secret information about a Russian military enterprise on the orders of the CIA, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
"The investigation has established that the American journalist gathered secret information about the activities of the military enterprise for the production and repair of military equipment in the Sverdlovsk region," prosecutor Mikael Ozdoev told journalists.
The court announced that the next hearing in the case is scheduled for August 13.
Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Russia said that Moscow had not provided any evidence to support the espionage charges against Evan Gershkovich and that the Kremlin was using an American citizen to achieve its political goals.
