Vladimir Putin begins a two-day visit to North Korea today, NOVA reported.

The president of Russia is likely to sign a cooperation agreement with the isolated country.

Until two years ago, Russia was part of the international sanctions against Pyongyang. But since Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine, North Korea has become an ally.

Western intelligence estimates that Kim Jong Un's regime has given Russia 5 million artillery shells. This ammunition proved to be decisive for the Russian army. In response, Russia vetoed in the UN Security Council the renewal of some of the sanctions against Pyongyang.

South Korea has expressed concern that the Russians will help Kim develop new weapons, in violation of Security Council resolutions.
