Russia launches large-scale military exercises in Pacific Ocean - 1

Russia has launched a series of naval exercises in the Pacific Ocean, demonstrating its military might through anti-submarine warfare and exercises for protection from airstrikes, reported Agence France-Presse, which cited an official announcement of the Russian Ministry of Defense, BTA reports.

The drills are timed to coincide with Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to North Korea, a visit aimed at strengthening ties between Moscow and Pyongyang. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un hailed this alliance as strengthened by the “unbreakable bonds of brothers in arms”, underscoring the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations.

About 40 naval ships are taking part in the exercises, along with 20 helicopters and aircraft, forming a massive force in Pacific waters. The exercises are scheduled to last until June 28, passing through the Pacific Ocean, the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk. The footage released shows an impressive lineup of ships and a submarine sailing in formation near Vladivostok, home of Russia's Pacific Fleet.

During the training, Russian sailors will participate in rigorous training scenarios. These include countering submarine threats, launching missile strikes on hypothetical enemy fleets, and defending against drone and unmanned boat attacks. Such exercises are extremely important for increasing the combat readiness and operational capabilities of the Navy in various maritime conditions.
