Negotiators from Ukraine and the European Union have reached an agreement on the text of their security agreement, which will be signed in the near future, Ukrinform reported, citing the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, quoted by BTA.

As noted in the statement of the office, on the instructions of the President of Ukraine and the head of the presidential office, the deputy head of the office - Igor Zhovkva (Zelensky's advisor on foreign policy), conducted the last round of negotiations on the security agreement with the EU with the Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS) for Peace, Security and Defense Charles Fries.

"The negotiating delegations of Ukraine and the EU are ready with the final text of the security agreement and have agreed to sign it in the near future," the presidential office said in a statement.

The security agreement between Ukraine and the EU will be concluded according to the joint declaration in support of Ukraine, which the EU and the G-7 countries approved in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius on July 12, 2023, according to Zelensky's office.

The Presidents of Ukraine and the United States - Volodymyr Zelensky and Joe Biden signed on June 13 in the Italian resort of Borgo Enatzia, on the sidelines of the G-7 summit, a bilateral security agreement with a term of ten years, Ukrinform recalls. On the same day, Ukraine also signed a security agreement with Japan.
