Macron and Attal's popularity drops, National Assembly maintains lead ahead of early elections - 1

Popularity of President Emmanuel Macron and Minister -President Gabriel Attal has dropped significantly, and the latest polls show that the far-right "National Assembly" in France leads before the parliamentary elections, which will be held in two rounds at the end of June and the beginning of July, quoted by News.bg.

The far-right French party "National Assembly" and her allies are leading in the first round of the country's parliamentary elections with 35.5% of the vote, according to a public opinion poll published this Sunday.

The Ipsos survey - conducted for the newspaper "Parisien" and Radio "France" on June 19 and 20 - shows that the leftist alliance New People's Front (NNP) is in second place with 29.5% of the vote.

President Emmanuel Macron's centrist alliance is only in third place with 19.5 percent of the vote.

They are followed by the "Republicans" by 7%.

However, the popularity of both Macron and Prime Minister Gabriel Atal has fallen significantly.

Emmanuel Macron's popularity rating fell five points in June compared to May, with 26% of French people satisfied with his actions.

Atal's popularity rating dropped four points to 41% satisfied, according to an Ifop survey published in the "Journal du Dimanche".

According to the survey - conducted after the head of state's decision to dissolve the National Assembly - his popularity has fallen to one of its lowest levels since 2017.

At the same time, turnout is expected to be between 60 and 64%, which will be much higher than the 47.5% reported in the last general election in June 2022.

Despite the lead of the "National Assembly" in polls before the elections, which will be held in two rounds - on June 30 and July 7, it is unlikely that the party will win an absolute majority.

Macron called the election after the crushing defeat of his alliance in the June 9 European elections.
