The deadliest Russian fighter jets stand in the open near the border with Ukraine, but the US protects them from Ukrainian strikes - 1

For a long time, military analysts point out that the US does not want Ukraine to lose the war, but it does not want it to win either, because this could lead to an escalation with Russia.

Another proof of this was revealed by Forbes magazine. Sources of the publication indicate that near the Ukrainian border – within range of Ukrainian missiles – some of the deadliest Russian fighters and bombers are deployed in the open, with which the aggressor attacks Ukraine daily with powerful planning bombs.

However, the USA has forbidden Kiev to destroy them. The Russian planes that terrorize Ukraine every day are based at airfields less than 200 km from the border, but the Ukrainian armed forces cannot shoot them down due to a US ban.

Ukraine could potentially cripple the entire operational fleet [of aircraft] stationed there if it were allowed to carry out such a strike. The publication gives the example of the Voronezh air base "Baltimore", located right in the range of the ATACMS missiles. Dozens of Su-34s are regularly out in the open on the asphalt of the newly renovated base.

Now Joe Biden's administration is banning Ukraine from firing US missiles at that base, offering to shoot down Russian planes in the air. But that's why the Russians use planning bombs, which are launched from afar, so as not to fall within the range of the Ukrainian air defense.

One option is for the Russian bombers to be shot down before they release their munitions. The problem is that the Ukrainian Air Force does not have enough of the best US-made Patriot air defense batteries to defend major cities and deploy them near the Russian border. Ukraine has only 5 “Patriot“ and cannot afford to risk them. Ukraine is unlikely to use the F-16 fighter jets to attack bases like “Baltimore”. Near the front line, Ukrainian pilots must fly low to avoid being intercepted by Russian systems such as the S-400.

This brings us back to the ATACMS missiles, which are perfect for such attacks. But Ukraine is unlikely to risk future deliveries of such missiles by using them against targets the United States has not approved in advance. Bans like this are illogical because Russia is using these military bases to attack Ukraine, not for self-defense.
