Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will preside over debates in the Security Council of the United Nations on July 16 and 17, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced, Reuters and BTA report.
In the course of the one-month Russian presidency, an agenda with three main points is planned, the department indicated.
Discussions will begin on July 16 with a high-level debate focused on “Multilateral cooperation in the interest of forming a fairer, more democratic and more sustainable world order”.
On the following day, July 17, open debates will be held on the situation in the Middle East, with particular emphasis on the Palestinian issue.
Lavrov will chair the first two debates, underscoring Russia's commitment to these global challenges.
