They blocked the confirmation of 30 US ambassadors because of their views on LGBT - 1

Republican US vice presidential candidate James David Vance, while still a senator, delayed confirmation of 30 US ambassadors to other countries for more than a year for their stance on promoting LGBT ideology and expanding the rights of sexual minorities. This was reported by The Washington Post (WP), which published copies of Vance's questionnaires for candidates for the position of head of the US diplomatic mission abroad.

They ask the candidates if they will increase the number of “gender neutral toilets” at US embassies, will they increase funding for employees to undergo “gender transition”? and whether LGBT flags will be flown over diplomatic missions during “Pride” parades.

According to the publication, Vance has always been considered by the State Department to be “the single and most serious obstacle to the confirmation of ambassadors by the Senate”. Because of his efforts, the Senate was forced to approve individually each candidate proposed by the American president, instead of approving all of them with a general list.

„The societies of many of our allies and nations with which we seek closer relations adhere to traditional Christian, Jewish, Muslim or Hindu values. What would LGBT rights look like in their countries?", the poll asks.

According to WP, representatives of conservative circles in the US support the position of the senator, because, according to them, Washington promotes leftist ideas in African, Asian and Latin American countries, where traditional values are strong, to the detriment of American national interests. In turn, the liberal movement in the US criticized Vance.

According to the newspaper's sources, a thorough survey of candidates for heads of diplomatic missions shows the Republican vice presidential candidate's belief that American diplomats are "infected with a virus of cultural arrogance" and must be eradicated. After all, by April 2024, most of the nominations blocked by Vance had been approved by the Senate under a different procedure.

On July 15, at the Republican Party convention, its delegates nominated Donald Trump as the party's presidential candidate and Senator Vance as its vice presidential candidate.
