It is impossible to make a comparison between the loss of people and the loss of territory, but this does not mean that Ukraine is ready to give up 30% of its territory, the President of Ukraine pointed out Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview for the British BBC TV, reported Ukrinform, quoted by BTA.
„Some ask: what is more important to you – the territory or the people? How can such things be compared? People come first. People are important. But that doesn't mean we can give up 30% of our land,” Zelensky said in an interview he gave during his visit to the UK earlier this week.
Furthermore, in his opinion, no one can be sure that the Russians will not go further and that freezing the conflict guarantees peace.
„He was already frozen. Who said Putin doesn't just want to destroy us? He wants to do it. He wants to bring back the Soviet Union and be in charge for the rest of his days,” added the president.
Zelensky also emphasized that Putin cannot be trusted, therefore the options for a probable end to the war must be thoroughly discussed and evaluated.
