General Oleksandr Sirsky: Operation in Kursk Oblast going well, Russians not advancing on Pokrovsk - 1

The Commander-in-Chief Armed Forces Forces of Ukraine (VSU) Oleksandr Sirsky assured that the operation in the border Russian Kursk region is going well, and the Russian army is not advancing towards Pokrovsk, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

"During the last six days, the enemy has not advanced a single meter in the direction of Pokrovsk. In other words, our strategy is working," Sirsky said in an interview with CNN. He added that the Air Force registered a decrease in the intensity of Russian shelling and offensive in other directions as well.

Earlier today, Ukrainian authorities said the evacuation of people by train from Pokrovsk had been halted as the Russian army was less than 10 kilometers from the city, which is an important transport hub in eastern Donetsk region.

Ukraine is calling on its Western partners to supply it with more weapons and allow their use deeper into Russia.

Tomorrow, Zelensky will participate in a meeting in Germany of the defense ministers of the countries of the so-called Contact Group on Ukraine - the countries that supply weapons to Kiev - and will call specifically for the delivery of more long-range missiles and of means of air defense, reported the magazine "Spiegel", quoted by Reuters.

In addition, the Ukrainian president is expected to visit the United States later this month, where he will present his American counterpart Joe Biden with a "plan for victory".

Washington is a key ally of Kiev, providing it with tens of billions of dollars in military aid.
