Volodymyr Zelensky: There is a war in Ukraine, and the Russians have transferred about 60,000 troops to the Kursk region - 1

"Ukraine is at war, and the Russians have moved about 60,000 troops into the Kursk region (Russia). The idea of the operation in the Kursk region is to withdraw the Russian forces to their own territory. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with NBC News.

"We have not increased the number of military personnel for the Kursk operation. There was another idea there. That is, this is the idea and one of the goals in the Kursk region. This is the return of Russian troops to their zone, to their territory. Now I can report about this, because today they have evacuated about 60 thousand people there", the head of state of Ukraine points out.

According to him, the Russian troops have withdrawn their forces from some places "where Ukraine was threatened with difficulties because it had no weapons".

"At some point in this "hole" of the supply (of weapons) that we had, the use of weapons was one in 12. That was in the artillery - one of our shells to 12 Russian shells. (Now) They withdrew forces from Zaporozhye Oblast, Kherson Oblast, but did not withdraw forces from Pokrovsk. Yes, it is very difficult in Pokrovsk. But the shots are not one in 12, but one in three. Did we increase the number of weapons? No!", Zelensky also commented.

In the same interview, Zelensky stated that the Kursk operation was triggered by a shortage of shells and long-range missiles, which forced Ukraine to consider alternative defenses to prevent Russia from creating a buffer zone along the border.
