The presidents of Russia and Belarus - Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko - met on an island Valaam in Lake Ladoga, in the Russian Republic of Karelia, the Belarusian BelTA agency reported, as quoted by BTA.
The Belarusian head of state is on a working visit to Russia, the agency specifies. Negotiations with Putin in various formats are on the agenda of the meeting. The leaders of the two countries will discuss current issues related to the development of bilateral relations, the launch of partnership projects, regional security and the international agenda.
Putin and Lukashenko have already met twice on this island, BelTA notes. One year ago, they visited the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery located on Valaam Island. For the first time, the two were together on the island in Lake Ladoga in July 2019.
