Heavy rain has fallen in many Turkish districts, causing severe flooding in some places and crashes, BTA reported.

Turkey's meteorological service issued a yellow code yesterday for expected heavy rains with thunder for 14 districts, including Antalya, Adana, Afyonkarahisar, Burdur, Isparta, Konya.

In the afternoon, heavy rain started in Antalya County. In the neighboring districts of Burdur and Asparta, the rain caused flooding, and traffic on the roads was severely hampered. In many places (in particular on the road Antalya – Aksehir – Ankara) there were accidents, mainly with cars leaving the roadway, the correspondent of BTA saw in the Turkish capital.

At times, drivers were forced to drive at a speed of 30 km/h due to extremely poor visibility and wet roads.

In Antalya County, the temperatures have dropped seriously in the last two days. While at the beginning of the week the mercury in the popular Mediterranean county was above 40 degrees Celsius, yesterday temperatures dropped to 32 degrees.

Late last night a strong storm broke out in Antalya. The strong wind uprooted trees, causing material damage to cars parked nearby. The traffic in the city of Antalya and the resort towns in the area was very difficult, informed the state television TRT-Haber.

A statement from the Welsh County Council urged citizens to be vigilant due to the risk of flash flooding, torrential rain, lightning, tornadoes and hail.

Many houses and offices were flooded in Asparta district due to heavy rain late last night. A municipal road has collapsed in the Fatih neighborhood of the city of Isparta, reports the local website Ispartahaber.

Heavy rain also fell yesterday in Istanbul, Ankara, as well as in the European part of Turkey, in the Aegean and Black Sea regions, Artgercek informs.
