The Iranian-backed Lebanese Shiite group &bdquo ;Hezbollah” stated early this morning that it had for the first time attacked the Beit Hillel area in northern Israel with dozens of Katyusha rockets, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
The group's statement said the attack was in response to Israeli strikes on Lebanon, “especially the attacks targeting the villages of Kafr Qila and Deir Saryan”.
According to Israeli media, many of the rockets of “Hezbollah“ were intercepted by the "Iron Dome" air defense system.
Lebanese security officials said about 50 rockets were fired at northern Israel.
The situation along the Israeli-Lebanese border has recently deteriorated significantly, DPA notes. After the murders of the military commander of “Hezbollah” Fuad Shukr and the leader of the political wing of “Hamas” Ismail Haniya, the Lebanese Shia group vowed to take revenge on Israel.
