The candidate for president of the Republican Party of the United States, Donald Trump, and his opponent from the Democratic Party, Kamala Harris, entered into a dispute over which television station should host their pre-election debate, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

Trump announced on Friday on his social network “Truth Social“ (Truth Social) that he personally arranged for a pre-election debate to be broadcast on the fourth of September on the close-to-the-Republican TV channel “Fox News”.

Harris, for his part, accused Trump of trying to get out of the already agreed-upon debate, scheduled for September 10 on traditional television network ABC.

Before President Joe Biden withdrew from the race for the White House, he and the Republican leader planned to have two televised debates, the second of which was scheduled to take place on September 10 on ABC.

Biden's disastrous performance in his first debate with Trump at the end of June, however, caused a political upheaval that led to the current president's decision to abandon the fight for a second term.

This week, the Democratic Party announced that Harris had received the votes of enough party delegates to officially be nominated for the Nov. 5 presidential election. The new candidate is mobilizing Democratic voters, and the results of the polls indicate that a contested race is shaping up between her and Trump.

The Republican leader expressed displeasure with Biden's decision to give up his seat to Harris. He said the replacement was tantamount to a “coup” and that the Democrats should return the money she spent on her campaign against Biden.

In his post on the social network, Trump explained that he was withdrawing from the ABC debate because “Biden will no longer participate" and because he is waging a “legal battle” with one of the TV presenters. He pointed out that the proposed debate on “Fox News” may take place in the State of Pennsylvania in a hall full of audience.

Harris wrote on the social network “X“: “I will be there on September 10 as agreed. I hope to see him“.
