A German tourist died while climbing the highest peak in Germany - Zugspitze , the Austrian police announced yesterday, quoted by DPA and BTA.
According to law enforcement, the man set off on Thursday morning for the 2,962-meter peak in Germany from the Austrian border town of Erwald. After he did not return from the hike at noon as planned, his wife filed a police report.
Mountain rescuers from Ervald found the missing man lifeless in a steep mountain gully. The deceased was found by helicopter.
Police have not yet released details about the man's age or cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
