The pilot died, reported Reuters and France Press, quoted by dariknews.bg, citing local authorities.
They initially reported that the man was missing. However, the body of the man, born in 1959, was found in the sea shortly after the tragedy.
The air show was part of the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Provence.
The French Air Force (Air Force) specified in a statement that the plane that crashed belonged to a private association.
The Air Force canceled their performance after the accident.
"The pilots and the entire Air Force community would like to express their solidarity at this difficult time," the text said.
The plane that crashed was a collector's item. "Fugue Magister" were used in the 1950s, being preferred for their great maneuverability, AFP said.
The crash happened just two days after two French military planes collided in the eastern part of the country, Reuters notes. Two soldiers died and one survived.
