Philippine, Chinese coast guard ships clash in South China Sea - 1

The Chinese coast guard said two Philippine coast guard ships "illegally entered" in the waters adjacent to Xiangbin (Sabina) Atoll without permission from Beijing, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

The Chinese coast guard said one of the Philippine vessels ignored repeated warnings and "intentionally collided" with a Chinese vessel in an "unprofessional and dangerous manner".

In another statement, Chinese authorities said the same Philippine vessel also entered the waters around Second Thomas Atoll after being prevented from entering the waters around Sabina Atoll.

"The Philippines has repeatedly provoked and created problems, violated interim agreements with China," said Chinese coast guard spokesman Gan Yu, referring to the Philippines' operations to supply the crew of its warship stranded on Thomas II Atoll.

The Chinese coast guard said it had taken the necessary measures against Philippine ships in accordance with international law and warned the Philippines to "immediately stop violations and provocations" or else they will "suffer all consequences" from your actions.
