Over 121,000 people from nine border regions in the Kursk region have been evacuated, Reuters reported, citing a statement from the Ministry of Emergency Situations published by TASS, quoted by BTA.
Russian forces have been fighting with Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region since August 6, when thousands of Ukrainian troops stormed across Russia's western border.
„Since the beginning of the evacuation actions, 121 thousand people have been displaced on the territory of nine border regions. 650 people have left independently and in organized columns in recent days”, said the deputy director of the Department of Information Policy of the Ministry, Artyom Sharov.
He indicated that the work of relocating residents from the border areas to safer places is ongoing.
In 23 Russian regions, 120 points were discovered, which are used for temporary accommodation of the evacuees. To date, they have accommodated about three thousand people, including over 1,200 children.
