Russia and Azerbaijan reached an agreement on the joint production of oil tankers. This was announced by the head of state of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin after negotiations with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev in Baku, RIA Novosti reported, as quoted by Focus.
"The Russian United Shipbuilding Company [...] together with the Baku Shipyard are starting to produce modern river-sea tankers for the transportation of petroleum products”, explained the Russian leader.
The use of these ships on the Azov-Black Sea and Caspian routes will significantly increase the supply of energy resources to world markets, the Russian president also emphasized.
He also noted that Russian companies are successfully operating in the Azerbaijani market, including "Lukoil” and "KamAZ“.
In a joint statement, the leaders of the two countries gave a high assessment of the level of trade and economic cooperation and outlined the main guidelines for its further development.
According to a member of the Russian delegation, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, Moscow and Baku are also considering new oil and gas projects, including on the Caspian Sea shelf.
The negotiations took place in the Zagulba Palace, the official residence of the President of Azerbaijan, 40 kilometers from the capital, on the shores of the Caspian Sea. A day ago, Putin arrived in Baku on a two-day state visit.
