Iran's Permanent Mission to the United Nations categorically rejected allegations of Tehran's interference in the 2024 US presidential election and called the allegation “groundless”, the Iranian news agency IRNA reported, quoted by BTA.
The Iranian mission issued a statement in response to questions about an allegation by US intelligence agencies and cyber security services.
„Such claims are baseless and devoid of any weight. As we have previously stated, the Islamic Republic of Iran has neither the intention nor the motive to interfere in the US presidential election,” the statement said.
„If the US government truly believes in the merits of its claims, it must provide us with the relevant evidence (if any) to which we will respond in due course”, it added.
In a joint statement, the FBI and several other US intelligence agencies said Iran was involved in hacking attacks on the campaign of Republican White House candidate Donald Trump, as well as attempted hacking attacks on the campaign of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. for president.
Last week, Iran's mission in New York rejected a report published by a US newspaper that claimed it had access to documents about Iran's role in hacking the Trump campaign.
„Iran itself has been the victim of various cyber attacks targeting the country's infrastructure, public service centers and industry. Iran's cyber power is defensive and proportionate to the threats it faces,”, Iran's mission said last Friday.
Iran has no target or plan for a cyber attack. The American election is an internal matter of this country and Iran has no part in it, the Iranian mission said at the time.
Iran's permanent mission to the United Nations has recently made several similar statements in relation to allegations implicating the Islamic Republic in a hacking attack on the US election campaign or in a shooting incident at a Trump rally. It called these allegations “absurd, baseless and biased”.
