Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada (parliament) today adopted a law that paves the way for the banning of the Russian-linked Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), Reuters reported, citing BTA.
The law bans the Russian Orthodox Church from Ukrainian territory and provides for a ban, which must be approved by a court decision, for religious organizations affiliated with it.
Kiev defines the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, historically linked to Russia, as a conduit of Russian influence and complicit in Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Reuters notes.
