The Embassy of the United States of America in Ukraine has published an emergency message on its website, Ukrainian media reported .
The American Embassy in Kyiv announced that it expects Russia to intensify its missile attacks on Ukraine in the coming days in connection with the celebration of Ukrainian independence on August 24.
According to the State Department, Russia may increase missile and drone strikes across Ukraine both at night and during the day. American citizens in Ukraine have been urged to seek asylum in the event of an airstrike alert and to follow the instructions of Ukrainian authorities.
On August 24, Ukraine celebrates its independence day. For more than 900 days, the country has been defending itself against the full-scale Russian aggression launched on February 24, 2022 by Vladimir Putin. During the war, Russia primarily attacked Ukraine's civilian infrastructure, killing unarmed civilians.
The United States is the country that has provided the most political and military support to Ukraine, followed by European NATO allies. Russia is expected to increase missile bombardment also because of the Ukrainian invasion of the Kursk region – the first invasion of Russia by a foreign army since the end of World War II.
