Two girls killed , and five children injured after an armed attacker opened fire on a school bus in Pakistan, DPA reported, citing a police statement quoted by BTA.

The attack took place in the city of Attock in the central province of Punjab while students were going to school, police officer Usman Haider told DPA.

All the killed and wounded are between 5 and 10 years old, he specified.

Motives for the crime have not yet been released, but according to the preliminary investigation, it may have been a feud between two families, Haider said.

„We do not rule out the possibility of terrorism,”, the police officer added.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the attack and ordered police to capture the gunman, his office said in a statement.

In the past, Islamist rebels have carried out attacks against students in schools, colleges and universities, reminds DPA.

In 2014, a Taliban terrorist killed nearly 150 children in a horrific attack at a military school in northwest Pakistan.

Another member of the Taliban also opened fire on a school bus in Swat in 2012. The attack then injured Malala Yousafzai, who won the Nobel Peace Prize two years later.
