China and Belarus agreed to strengthen cooperation in a number of sectors, such as trade, security, energy and finance, reports "Reuters", quoted by News.bg.
This was made clear by a joint statement published a day after Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko in Minsk.
It is said that the two countries will also strengthen cooperation on industrial supply chains and continue to improve trade facilitation to reduce costs.
In addition, Belarus intends to deepen cooperation with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Economic Area – a metropolis that spans nine cities, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhuhai.
The Chinese media China Daily points out that Belarus is among the first countries to respond to the Chinese initiative “One Belt, One Road”.
During his visit to Minsk, Li said that relations between China and Belarus have been preserved for the past 32 years despite the changing international landscape.
China is the second largest trading partner of Belarus and the country's largest trading partner from Asia. Bilateral trade exceeded $8.4 billion last year.
Li arrived in Belarus yesterday, after the end of his first visit to Russia as Chinese premier.
