The spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, noted that the topic of reconciliation between Azerbaijan and Armenia was discussed during the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Baku, the Armenian news agency ARMENPRESS reported, quoted by BTA.

Zakharova emphasized that all the efforts that Russia is making in this direction correspond to the special alliance relations with both Baku and Yerevan, which are based on common historical and cultural values. She pointed out that the signing of a peace treaty is crucial for the establishment of peace and stability in the region.

"Our country has declared its interest at all levels to reach reconciliation as soon as possible. This has been confirmed by the Russian president himself, who expressed his intention to contact Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan after his visit to Baku to continue the dialogue to settle the conflict, Zakharova said, noting that Russia is ready to support the parties within the framework of the tripartite agreement.

On the occasion of Armenia's participation in the events of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Zakharova noted that the doors of the CSTO are always open and that "there is no other guarantor of Armenia's security other than this structure.
