China today called on more countries to support the peace plan for Ukraine after a round of diplomatic negotiations with Indonesia, Brazil and South Africa, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.
China's Special Envoy for Eurasian Affairs Li Hui called the three countries representatives of the Global South and "important forces for promoting world peace" that have similar positions to Beijing.
"They maintain communication with both Russia and Ukraine, remaining committed to a political settlement of the crisis through dialogue and negotiation," Li noted.
Earlier this year, China and Brazil produced a joint peace plan that calls for a peace conference involving Ukraine and Russia.
China and Russia were absent from the peace summit held in Switzerland in June. Russia was not invited and China chose not to participate.
