Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump by 4%, new poll shows - 1

Democrat Kamala Harris leads Republican Donald Trump by 45% to 41% in the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll released yesterday ahead of the November US presidential election, quoted by BTA.

According to Reuters, this shows that the US vice president is generating new enthusiasm among American voters and stirring up the race ahead of the presidential election on November 5.

The 4-point lead among registered voters is larger than the 1-point lead that Harris had over the former president in the previous Reuters/Ipsos poll from late last month. The new poll, conducted in the eight days leading up to Wednesday and with a margin of error of 2 percentage points, shows Harris gaining ground among women and Latinos.

In the seven states where the 2020 election was the closest — Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, North Carolina, Michigan and Nevada — Trump has a 45% lead compared to Harris’ 43% among American voters surveyed.

The latest poll partly coincides with the Democratic National Convention in Chicago from August 19 to 22, where Harris officially accepted her party’s nomination. It remains to be seen whether the same level of enthusiasm for Harris among voters will be maintained, Reuters notes.

The poll was conducted nationally with the participation of 4,253 American adults, including 3,562 registered voters.
