The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Sirsky, said today that the situation in the direction of the main Russian attack “is complex“, but that the necessary measures are being taken, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
„The situation is complicated in the direction of the enemy's main attack. But without delay, all the necessary decisions are made at all levels," said General Sirski on his profile on the "Telegram" social network.
„Last night and this morning, the Russians carried out 18 shellings on the border territories and settlements in the Sumy region. 47 explosions were registered, the regional administration announced in Telegram.
In a separate statement, Ukraine's Air Force said it had intercepted 8 of the 11 Russian drones used in last night's strikes.
„This time, the occupiers targeted Ukrainian grain and logistics in the agricultural sector, especially in Mykolaiv and Sumy regions,” the statement said, but without further details.
Sum Oblast borders Russia's Kursk Oblast, where the Ukrainians invaded in early August. Meanwhile, Russian forces continue their push towards the strategic city of Pokrovsk in eastern Ukraine.
