Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today appointed the former minister in charge of arms production, Oleksandr Kamyshyn, as an external adviser to the president on strategic issues, Reuters reported, citing a decree published on the website of the Ukrainian presidency, quoted by BTA.

Kamishin, a former minister in charge of strategic industries and arms production, resigned earlier this week as part of a reshuffle of the Ukrainian government at a critical time in the war with Russia.

Zelensky, saying Ukraine needs “new energy”, ordered the most significant changes in government since Russian troops invaded Ukrainian territory in February 2022.

The Ukrainian parliament voted to appoint nine new ministers, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs and two deputy ministers.

Zelensky today took further steps to renew his team and published several decrees for new appointments in his office.

„I will continue to work in the defense industry”, Kamishin wrote in the “Telegram” application. shortly after his appointment was announced. According to him, he will also be responsible for other strategically important areas, but he did not give more details.

Under Kamyshyn's leadership, Ukraine's arms production has increased significantly amid fighting in the country, and he has been a driving force behind efforts to secure more Western funding, expertise and technology for Ukraine's arms industry, according to Reuters.
