The Russian Navy has started strategic exercises in the Pacific and Arctic Oceans, as well as in the Mediterranean, Baltic and Caspian Seas, the Ministry of Defense announced, as quoted by Reuters and BTA.
More than 400 ships and submarines and 90,000 personnel are taking part in the exercise, the department said in a statement.
The Russian state news agency TASS specifies that among the tasks of the strategic command and staff exercise "Ocean-2024" is to test the readiness of the command staff of the Russian Navy to manage heterogeneous groups of forces, as well as the integrated use of high-precision weapons.
"The main tasks of the strategic command and staff exercise 'Ocean-2024' are to check the readiness of the leadership of the units and compounds of the Russian Navy to manage heterogeneous groups of forces in their areas of responsibility, to solve non-standard operational tasks, to use high-precision weapons, modern and advanced weapons and military equipment during of the practical part of the exercise, as well as to expand cooperation with the naval forces of the partner countries in solving joint tasks at sea," said the statement of the Russian Ministry of Defense, quoted by TASS.
