Four climbers have been found dead below the highest peak in the Alps, Mont Blanc, after being reported missing since the weekend, DPA reported, quoted by BTA, referring to the French gendarmerie.
Rescuers spotted the bodies of two Italians and two South Koreans from a helicopter, TeF 1 TV reports.
The climbers, whom rescue teams had been searching for since Saturday, died of exhaustion at the foot of the summit.
The gendarmerie was notified late Saturday afternoon that three groups of mountaineers encountered problems climbing Mont Blanc due to bad weather conditions. Rescuers managed to bring two South Korean citizens to safety on Sunday morning at an altitude of 4100 meters.
However, the search for the four, who were subsequently found dead, was temporarily suspended due to the deteriorating weather conditions.
