European companies will continue to buy Russian natural gas gas until it is prevented by sanctions. This was stated by the European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson at a press conference in Brussels, reports TASS, quoted by BTA.
„Companies have all legal means to continue buying Russian gas, and will continue to do so until sanctions prohibit it,” she explained. When asked by journalists why she said “for now” and whether the European Commission is considering a complete ban on the import of Russian natural gas, Simson answered:
„While the war continues, we must react. First, we must help Ukraine recover, and second, we must continue to impose sanctions. That is why I noted that there are currently no sanctions aimed at natural gas.“
