Kim also visited the Nuclear Weapons Institute and the production base for nuclear materials for weapons, laying out a long-term plan to increase the production of such materials, the North Korean news agency added.
KCTA quoted Kim as saying he felt "strong" from what was seen at the work site during the visit. The agency did not specify when the tour took place.
Kim also inspected the North Korean army's Special Operations Forces training base to lead a training exercise held on Wednesday, the KCTA said in another statement.
