Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky explained in an interview with the American television channel CNN why he intends to share his plan for achieving peace in Ukraine with senior American politicians and revealed details of a telephone conversation with former US President Donald Trump from two months ago, Ukrinform reported, BTA reported.
"I am ready to share this (the plan) with President (Joe) Biden", the Ukrainian leader said. "In that case, of course, I think it would be fair and right to share it with the two candidates (for president) - Kamala Harris and Donald Trump", Zelensky also said.
Since many things depend on the decisions of the US Congress, the "victory plan" should also be presented to Congress, the Ukrainian head of state said. "After these steps, we are ready to share it with the people," the president added. He said he had no idea what Trump meant when he declared his readiness to end the war within days - even before he took office, if elected president. The US elections are on November 5.
"Now I can't understand this, because I don't know exactly what he means and what it means. Election messages are election messages, sometimes they are not very realistic," Volodymyr Zelensky noted. Sometimes such messages "get nervous," he said, but added that during a phone call with Trump two months ago, the US presidential candidate promised to support Ukraine.
"He said he wanted to help a lot, and we had a very good conversation. "He understands how difficult it is for us to survive the war and will do everything to make Ukraine stronger," Zelensky said. "That's why I want to share this plan with him, to hear his opinion," the Ukrainian president concluded.
