Lebanese Army Commander-in-Chief General Joseph Aoun met today with the Qatari ambassador in Beirut Sheikh Saud bin Abdul Rahman al-Thani and with the Acting General Director of the Qatar Development Fund Sultan Al-Asiri, with whom he discussed support for the Lebanese armed forces, the Lebanese news agency NNA reported, as quoted by BTA.
Qatar Fund has announced that it will provide a $15 million donation to fuel the Lebanese army over the next three months, which aims to boost its capabilities amid the economic difficulties facing Lebanon.< /p>
General Aoun expressed his gratitude for the donation, stressing that it is proof of Doha's commitment to the Lebanese-Qatari friendship and to Lebanon's security and stability in the current “emergency times”.
