Landslide in Mexico kills six - 1

A landslide triggered by heavy rain kills six near Mexico's capital , the Associated Press reported, citing local authorities, as quoted by BTA.

The landslide intensified on Monday evening in a village northwest of Mexico City, damaging a house and a school building, authorities said in a statement. The victims are four men and two women. Three victims were hospitalized.

The governor of the state, Delfina Gomez, ordered the dispatch of rescue teams and security task forces to provide support to the affected families.

The incident comes just days after another landslide in the same state killed nine people, including a 3-month-old baby, on Saturday. Two children aged 10 and 12 and a 34-year-old woman were rescued. Over 100 people were evacuated due to fears of new landslides.

The torrential rains that began at the end of July are causing constant landslides in the state of Mexico, endangering the local population. In some cities, such as Chalco, rainwater mixed with sewage flooded streets, homes and businesses due to uncontrolled population growth and poorly maintained infrastructure.
