Four migrants have died and five have been rescued after an inflatable boat sank off the Greek island of Samos in the Aegean Sea. reported AFP, quoted by NOVA.
The boat sank in the early hours of September 23 off the northwest coast of Samos, one of the Greek islands closest to Turkey, from where many migrants set off.
„Four women have drowned,” a Coast Guard spokesman said, adding that a search for survivors by Coast Guard vessels, a helicopter and a diver was continuing.
Earlier in some local media there were reports that up to 20 more people may be missing.
A coast guard spokeswoman said authorities had found another 26 people in the western part of Samos and were trying to determine if they were from the same group of migrants.
