Israel seeks its military campaign against the Lebanese Shiite group "Hezbollah" to end as soon as possible, but is also prepared for longer battles, Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari told reporters, quoted by Reuters and BTA.

He also showed a video showing a strike on a house in which rocket launchers were hidden, as well as a building being hit, followed by secondary explosions.

"We will continue to show what the group "Hezbollah" "in the last 20 years, within the framework of a large-scale project to transform thousands of civilian homes in southern Lebanon, and not only in southern Lebanon, into terrorist bases," Hagari said.

A little earlier, Lebanese Health Minister Firas Abiad said that the number of people killed in the strikes that Israel carried out on Lebanon on Monday had reached 569. Among them were 50 children and 94 women.

Slovenia, which this month chairs the UN Security Council, announced that the body will meet in connection with the escalation of fighting between "Hezbollah" and Israel. Consultations will begin today at 6:00 p.m. New York time (01:00 a.m. Bulgarian time).

Tens of thousands of Lebanese residents have been displaced due to Israeli airstrikes, DPA reported, quoted by BTA, citing data from the Lebanese government. About 27,000 of the displaced people have sought refuge in emergency shelters in the south of the country and in the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon, said Nasser Jassin, acting environment minister.

More than 250 schools had to be quickly turned into shelters. About 20,000 people have received basic aid such as hygiene items and food. There are not enough mattresses in the shelters.

The international non-governmental organization "Doctors without borders" reported that its teams are distributing mattresses and hygiene materials to emergency shelters across the country. There are also telephone counseling centers for displaced people that provide them with psychological support.

Meanwhile, Reuters reported that early this morning, Israel first attacked the coastal town of Jiya, located 75 km north of the Israeli-Lebanese border.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib expressed disappointment with US President Joe Biden's speech to the UN General Assembly regarding the escalating crisis between Israel and Lebanon, but noted that he still hoped the US would step in and help .

In his speech to the UN General Assembly, Biden tried to calm tensions by pointing out that a full-scale war would be in no one's interest. He added that a diplomatic solution to the crisis is still possible.

"It wasn't loud. It wasn't promising and it won't solve this problem," Habib said regarding the American president's words. "I still have hope. The US is the only country that can really change the situation in the Middle East and … Lebanon", added the foreign minister during his participation in a forum organized by the "Carnegie" Foundation for International Peace.
