Netanyahu: Israeli and Lebanese teams held meetings to discuss US ceasefire proposals - 1

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Friday that Israeli and Lebanese teams have held meetings to discuss US proposals for a ceasefire. According to the prime minister, discussions will continue in the coming days, with Netanyahu expressing appreciation for the US efforts. He noted that Israel shares the goal of the initiative, which is to ensure the safe return of people to their homes, reports Reuters, quoted by News.bg.

Netanyahu's remarks came after Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said earlier that Israel would not cease fire along the border with Lebanon, which has been heavily bombed in recent days against the Iran-backed Hezbollah group. Israeli forces have carried out numerous airstrikes in Lebanon over the past week, resulting in hundreds of casualties.

According to Netanyahu's statements, Israel's goal is to ensure the safety of the civilian population along the northern border, while the priority remains the restoration of stability in the region.
