Japan's new prime minister Shigeru Ishiba said in his first phone call with President Joe Biden today, that he wants to strengthen his country's alliance with the United States, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
Ishiba said that in his conversation with Biden he did not discuss the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA), which defines the legal status of US bases and military personnel in Japan.
The Japanese prime minister has said he strongly condemns Iran's missile attacks on Israel and supports efforts to avoid further escalation in the Middle East.
