Cities and villages in northern Israel have again been attacked by rockets from Lebanese territory, DPA said, citing a statement of the Israeli army, quoted by BTA.
20 rockets were aimed at the area of the city of Haifa, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced. An air alert has been declared in numerous cities in the north and east of the Galilee. Several of the missiles were intercepted, and the rest fell in open terrain, the army said. According to initial information, there are no reports of casualties or significant damage.
The Iranian-backed Shia movement "Hezbollah" in Lebanon attacked Israel with rockets in solidarity with the Palestinian armed group "Hamas" in the Gaza Strip. Fighters of "Hamas" invaded southern Israel on October 7 and carried out a series of attacks on towns and kibbutzim in which, according to Israeli figures, 1,200 people were killed and more than 250 people were kidnapped and taken hostage, DPA noted.
Israel is trying to drive out "Hezbollah" from the border area by carrying out massive airstrikes on Lebanese territory, accompanied by a ground offensive. The Israeli cabinet's goal is to allow 60,000 Israelis to return safely to their homes in northern Israel.
