The leader of the "Izzedine al-Qassam" - the military wing of the radical Palestinian group "Hamas", Said Atalah, was killed in an Israeli strike in Northern Lebanon, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA, referring to today's information from media close to the movement.

Three members of his family died together with him in a Palestinian refugee camp in the Lebanese city of Tripoli, the agency specifies.

So far there is no comment from the Israeli side, Reuters points out.

The brigades "Izzedin al-Qassam" confirmed last night the death of another of their commanders - Zahi Yasser Abd ar Razek Ufi, in an Israeli strike in the town of Tulkarem in the occupied West Bank.

Monday marks one year since the start of the conflict between Israel and "Hamas", which began with a surprise and bloody attack by Palestinian militants on Israeli territory on October 7, 2023.

According to Israel, nearly 1,200 people were killed then, and about 250 hostages were taken captive in the Gaza Strip. According to the Health Ministry of "Hamas" the number of Palestinian casualties in the ensuing offensive by Israeli forces now exceeds 41,000.
