Biden fears unrest after US election - 1

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, last night expressed confidence that the upcoming presidential elections in the country will be held fairly, but expressed concerns about possible riots, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

"I am convinced that the elections will be free and fair. I don't know if they're going to be peaceful," Biden said.

Biden expressed skepticism about the readiness of the Republican opposition to accept the results of the election.

"I noticed that the GOP vice presidential nominee [JD Vance] didn't say he would accept the results of the election,'' Biden said. "They have not even accepted the result of the last election. So I'm worried about what they're going to do," he added.

As the election campaign progresses, fears of politically motivated violence remain high, says DPA. The recent assassination attempt on Republican candidate Donald Trump has sparked further discussion about the state of political discourse in the US.

The violent storming of the Capitol by supporters of former President Donald Trump following his defeat in the 2020 election has raised concerns about the country's political climate.
