President Vladimir Putin will hold a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkiyan on October 11 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, where they will discuss the sharply deteriorating situation in the Middle East, as quoted by News.bg.
This was reported on Monday by "Interfax", citing the Russian leader's aide Yuri Ushakov.
"We have already arranged a meeting with the President of Iran Pezeshkiyan,", confirmed Ushakov.
The Russian leader will arrive in Turkmenistan to participate in the international forum "The connection of times and civilizations - the basis of peace and development". According to Ushakov, it is possible that Putin will hold other bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event.
"This meeting is of great importance both for discussing bilateral issues and for discussions about the sharply aggravated situation in the Middle East,", he emphasized.
Ushakov added that another meeting between Putin and Pezeshkian will take place during the BRICS summit, which will be held on October 22-24 in Kazan.
We remind you that at the end of September, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin made an official visit to Iran. The visit took place at a particularly tense moment for the region.
During the visit, the Iranian and Russian leaders emphasized the great prospects for strengthening cooperation between the two countries in various fields. Pezeshkian noted that Iran and Russia could strengthen their cooperation, especially on the issue of countering Western sanctions.
