Dutch authorities see a real risk of new attacks after last night's deadly attack on a Christmas market in the city of Magdeburg in neighboring Germany, said today the head of the anti-terrorism agency, Pieter-Jaap Albersberg, quoted by DPA, BTA reported.
Dutch authorities maintain the second highest level of terrorist threat (four out of five), which has been in effect since last December. "This means that the possibility of an attack is real", he said.
His agency is awaiting further information from Germany to make a more accurate assessment of the "disgusting event" in Magdeburg, in which four people died and 41 others were seriously injured.
Earlier, Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoff expressed condolences to the German government. "The Netherlands stands by its German neighbors in these dark times," he said on the social network "Ex".
